The Valencian Community has recently announced further tax cuts, and this week Brett Hanson, Senior Partner at Blevins Franks and based in Jávea, joins us to discuss what has changed and what these measures could mean for residents. For listeners unfamiliar with Spain’s autonomous communities, the Valencian Community includes the provinces of Valencia, Alicante and Castellón.

The new measures cover several areas of taxation, including income tax, wealth tax, and succession and gift tax. Brett begins by looking at the income tax changes, explaining the reductions that have been announced, when they will come into force, and how residents may benefit from them.

  • What about tax on savings income? Are there any changes here, and can you remind us how this tax differs from general income tax?
  • Are the succession and gift tax changes positive for residents?
  • What changes have been announced to succession and gift tax, and are they good news for residents?

Tax rates, scope and reliefs may change. Any statements concerning taxation are based upon our understanding of current taxation laws and practices which are subject to change. Tax information has been summarised; individuals should seek personalised advice.
