Steve Carruthers - Managing Director

Steve was born at Christmas 1953. He has been in the financial services and insurance industry since leaving school and has 40 years of experience behind him.

Steve joined Blevins Franks Financial Management (BFFM) as Managing Director in the summer of 1999. His primary role is to run the London end of the BFFM operation, and to provide financial advice and guidance to those who are UK based. One of his key roles is to be available to those offshore clients of Blevins Franks who, for whatever reason, decide to return to the UK.

This ability to provide a seamless advice process (offshore and onshore) is one of the features that make Blevins Franks so very different to virtually all other financial advisory firms.

Steve is fully Financial Planning Certificate qualified, and is in the process of taking the new Diploma qualification.

Steve has been married to Sue for 30 years, and they have four children. His main passion in life centres on sports, in particular watching his children play football, cricket and tennis.

Janice Murphy - Regional Manager

Janice started her career in financial services with the Clydesdale Bank during which time she gained a wealth of experience in mainly bank project work as a Regional Co-ordinator. She was involved specifically in productivity management and, as a result of this, the bank’s restructuring project and latterly analysing the retail bank costings.

In 1996 Janice joined Standard Life as a Financial Planning Consultant, responsible for the generation and expansion of business from new and existing clients and in 1999 she was promoted to Senior Financial Consultant.

After taking some time off to raise a family Janice returned to work, albeit part-time working alongside a Legal Services firm, advising clients in respect of estate planning. She also worked with Standard Life mainly in the corporate market providing advice to SMEs.

In 2008 Janice returned to her much loved client facing role as an Investment Adviser working with a well known private client firm.

Janice is married to Gerry and they have a lovely daughter Ellie aged 7 who is a real character.

In Janice’s spare time she cooks, cleans and washes clothes for the family! But as she is a woman she can multi-task, getting extra enjoyment from cooking the daily dinners whilst balancing the odd glass of wine in the left hand and negotiating the cooker with the right!

Janice holds the full Financial Planning Certificate and Diploma in Financial Planning, Taxation and Trusts and Diploma in Investments.

Pauline Orr - Regional Manager

Pauline started her career in financial services where she spent around 13 years with one of the major retail banks. During this time she worked on both the corporate and private sectors, and latterly as a Branch Manager responsible for two branches based in the South West of England.

For most of the last 12 years Pauline has practised as a general Independent Financial Adviser advising in areas of investment, pensions, protection and mortgages. She has also helped businesses to secure areas of funding, whether this was to build a new development, secure a much needed asset or to assist with cashflow finance.

Pauline holds the full Financial Planning Certificate and Mortgage Advice Qualification.

Pauline was a keen netball, tennis and rounders player but, due to a couple of large injuries, is no longer able to compete competitively. This is unfortunate as being of Irish descent she loves food, so regrettably has to force herself to the local gym in an attempt to balance this out, which does not work as well as it should.
